Yes they rarely go bad but two years ago I actually got to use a coil I had on the shelf for 15 years. That was on an IH with 392 engine. Pull a plug and check for spark. Should be healthy blue and not wimpy yellow. Be careful not to burn out the engine computer while grounding the plug. Just kidding.
