Subject: Water in diesel tank....maybe (??)

SE Michigan
Was cleaning up some grape vines that were between my tanks and barn. After I was almost done I noticed that the fill on a 300gal tank was open. We been getting rain almost ever day for the last few weeks. The inlet is about 1 3/4" dia. It is about 3' away from my barn on the east side (most rain has been from the west.

What should I do, the tank was just filled........ it is possible that I knocked it open removing grape vines but not sure. The tank has an electric pump with a filter on it. Will a good water seperator filter work? Can I put 2 filters in line?

Don't want to risk getting stranded in a field (I am a 1 man operation).

Any advice........
