Virginia
This is our fourth crop so we are not old timer experts yet. Our yields have been from 28 bu. to 58 bu. depending on weather and soil. We use poultry litter that runs around 60 lbs N and 6 lbs sulfur per ton. One ton in fall and another ton in the spring if we can get on the fields for 120 lbs N and 12 lbs of sulfur. This spring we did not get the second ton on the crop.

The seed we plant is call Virginia and is not GMO. You can buy round up ready canola. We just did not go that route with canola. You also will want to make sure you have a market for the seeds if you don't use the crop yourself. We have to go 2 1/2 hours away for a market if we want to sell. I am told the roots are good for the soil. Winter canola works well on our farm because the the winter weather is not to bad most years and it works well in the crop rotation for a dairy farm
