Subject: RE: how big of seed with jd 7000

SE North Dakota
I have a 7000 with the short fingers in it and it does not like large rounds or even medium rounds. I have found that it plants medium flats the best. The guy a John Deere told me that when he bench tested them the medium flats worked the best because of the short fingers. He said that if I had the long fingers it would be more prone to get doubles with the flats, but the short fingers takes care of that. The large rounds just don't fit in the fingers very well sometimes resulting in skips. He did say that it helped to go from 4.7mph to 5.25mph with the rounds.
