Yeah but, until you've done it once, the novelty is quite intriguing.....

Not saying I will plant some this year, as my garden is pretty well planned out - and filled.   however, the idea is quite intriguing.  

I will say.. I did plant some peas this year, for this first time in a couple of years.  I agree with you - it is easier to just buy peas, but I thought the idea of having a couple of fresh peas out of the garden might be worth the effort.
