Is it dry and hard, or do you have moisture and it is like concrete? If it is dry then, yes, rains will soften it up. You might have to get some good closing wheels to close the seed trench thou. We had trouble closing the trench in our clays no till with stock closing wheels.


Same deal here. I had to go to cast closing wheels and it did much better. I did fill the chem. boxes with a little sand to help keep it in the ground, but most of the time didn't need it. Just in old sprayer tracks and on the row ends. A little moisture and you won't have any problems. Don't worry about using any coulters or anything. Some trash whippers to clean it up a little. Good opener disks.
