Subject: Re: population for dryland corn

Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit!
We alway planted 26 to 30 here in southwest missouri and we never had much tip back so I went to 28- 32 and of course then, it got bad bad dry and we grew alot of 100 bushel corn, So I wasted a lot of money on seed, but I can say one thing, the corn at 32, didnt do any worse than the corn at 26( mostly flex ear corns that everyone said couldnt stand the population if it got dry) , it looked like it should have done worse because the kernal depth and tip back was so much worse but it made the same bushel and had the same test weight, I dont think you will lose bushels if it gets dry, just spend more money on seed.
