Would it be possible to dig some shallow pits to take some pix and make some observations of the roots of the radishes.
I have Tillage Radishes and Dikon Radishes in 30" rows in a solid stand of Hairy Vetch and Dixie Crimson Clover. The soil arond the radish row is different than the surrounding soil, and I am going to assume that corn roots will find it to be an excellent environment to grow. There is also a vertical fracture connecting the radishes, not unlike perforations on paper. The soil breaks cleanly at that location. Below is a pix that I posted earlier under COVER CROP TOUR pic. The radish row is below the knife and the fracture is there also.
