For the first year you only need a good planter that can put down some Nitrogen in close proximity to the row. 30-40 lbs of actual N is enough if your P levels are o.k.. The N is imperative in my opinion even if you have to dribble it on top of the soil next to the row.Best to go 3" away from the seed if dribbling it. The lack of N has caused more failures in no-till that anythng I can think of. You don't need residue managers the first year if you are planting into bean stubble. You certainly don't need a no-till coulter(especiaqlly in your erosion prone hills), just a good set of TruVee opener blades.Get your feet wet by planting only a field or two. Then you can add equipment to your planter as needed the next couple years. Go for it.One of the best things I have ever done for my bottom line.bob
