We went with 60" spacing on a silty loam soil. Partly because that is what our dealer was setup for. Last spring we put some in and later on in the summer you could see where the lines were because the beans over the tapes were greener and bigger. If you are running 30" rows it would be very easy to move the row off of the top of the tape. One word of caution, if you have an agronomist that does soil probing during the season, you need to mark a few tapes so he don't stick the probe right through the tape. This is where having the row right on top of the tape is helpful.
