In my mind to roll it to may you would have to offset your transaction under March, and start all over in may.
I may be wrong here, but if you don't excersise your option by expiration it turns in to a futures hedge at your strike plus or minus the premium at expiration. In otherwords it's excersised for you. Not really sure.
