Southeastern Alberta | Oh, the CWB is a problem. It's all about subsidies. We subsidize the world with cheap grain since they don't sell when the price is high (or low, it appears), and everyone else gets subsidized by their governments if they don't make enough money. Sounds like the Canadian way.
My biggest problem with the CWB (in regard to the current durum market) is what the 1st PRO for Durum was last year at this time, and what it ended up at. We base seeding intentions on a PRO like that (but don't ever get the chance to lock in a price or sell at that level) and by the time we start bringing it to market it is down over $100/T.
So if I can't trust the PRO when its high, maybe I should go wall to wall durum when its low!!! | |
