We are in a very wet (500mm/year) part of the prairies and have sandy soils to work with - we have some fields that have 50 - 90lbs/ac of N at 2ft, and 5lbs in the top 6". We're going to be using ESN this year to try and keep the N in the root zone while the crop is going - Trials in the area on these sandy soils have shown 15 - 25bu/ac increases. Trials on heavy clay soils have shown no noticable difference...


I think it depends a lot on your soil makeup...
