NW Kansas (Wallace County) | We are planting 2 varieties of safflower. The first is CW99OL, out of California, with seed treatment (a conventional variety). We are being told to plant it at 20 lbs. per acre. The 2nd variety is 1601, out of Montana, a hybrid. The 1601 has no seed treatment, and we are being told to plant it at 15 lbs. per acre.
What's the research say about seed treatment on safflower, and do those seeding rates sound about right considering one is conventional and one is hybrid? |
