Subject: RE: Geese damaged wheat

Chebanse, IL.....

Mike, I don't know about wheat damage/recovery, but the geese up in this area are no longer migratory. There are literally millions of them permanently stationed here. They fly in big circles most of the time, often practiciing their "formation" skills, but they never really go anywhere. Shotguns are not needed, you could fire up thru them w/a .22 & bring down a couple with a single shot. Actually, you wouldn't have to fire UP, 90% of the time they're sitting on the ground. They'll let you get within a couple hundred feet before they start moving. I have no idea why anyone bothers going out in a river or anything to shoot Cdn geese. You can just stand on the end of a field & fire away. I'm sure you could get a years worth of food in a minute or 2. That's "here".

This all started happening about 25 yrs ago.
