Subject: Thoughts of CAPS fuel system on MX tractors and upgrading

Boone, Iowa
I have been reading that some kits were in the works to get rid of the CAPS system on the MX tractors.  I got to see the nearly finished kit in the Area Diesel booth at the NFMS.  This is a P7100 sytle pump, similar to the Dodge inline pumps.  It is pretty much a plug and play wiring for the controller to run the electric throttle actuator.  The kit will cost about $13,300.  While this seems high, I believe a replacement CAPS pump is around $8500.  My questions are these.  Would an MX be worth more money if the CAPS pump was replaced with this kit?  If your CAPS pump went bad, would you spend the extra money for this upgrade?  Any other comments would be appreciated.  Thanks.
