Subject: JD 7400 pto?

SE PA
I was going to blow snow today with the 7400. I got 10 feet and the pto came to a stop. The pto shaft will run with nothing attached, but as soon as I put the snowblower shaft on it wouldn't run it - I could turn the pto shaft by hand. I unhooked and got the other 7400 and it ran the snowblower just fine. The tractor in question has about 2500 hours on it, and 90% of those are on the pto. It worked fine (at least nobody had anything bad to say about it) up until about 4 hours ago.

My first thought was the pto switch, since we replaced one already. However, when you engage the switch, you can hear the exhaust note change as the pto is engaged...... The dash light for the pto blinks, and I can hear some sort of hydraulic noise when I open the rear window. The noise and blinking light are only present when the pto is in the 'on' position. I have not pulled any codes yet, but I will tomorrow.

Any ideas?

Rodney
