with the hyd drive, you could variable rate,or change the pop at any time easily, auto shutoff rows in preplanted areas, map where you plant what etc.

with mechanical, you could always add a rawson drive later if you have an ag leader to drive it already. might be quite a bit cheaper planter, and does not take near the hyd for the rawson. Might also be able to add 20/20 for a drive system, not sure on that one tho.

options for you tho either way
