Roseglen, North Dakota | We have (2) 840 loaders on 8300's. they are a very strong loader and have a lot of lifting capacity. We went with the 8000 tractors for the following reasons:
~they can be bought for not much more than the 7000's
~they have the finger-tip hydraulic controls like the 9000 series 4wd whereas early 7000's still have levers
~8000's are heavier, more power, 840 loader is more loader than 740
~you won't pay a lot more for an 840 vs 740--can be bought for $7500-12000 , depending on age, condition, and with/without grapple.
~bigger cab on 8000, like you mentioned
On the downside:
8000 is noticeable clumsier with longer wheelbase
When installing joystick on 8000 series, you have to 'use up' 1 pair of hydraulic couplers for each function of the loader. In other words, if you wanted 3 functions for your loader, and you were pulling an implement that needed 2 hydraulics, you would need 5 pairs of couplers on the back of the 8000. With the 7000 joystick, 2 lines tapped into the hydraulic system feed the joystick, leaving all couplers free.
