The 720-730 series diesels were the most fuel effieient tractor for a long time, well into the 1980's. It was finally surpassed by the JD/Yanmar 1650, but the 720 was still better on drawbar fuel efficiency. Seems we haven't advanced that much in diesel engine economy.
