Subject: RE: Question for Von

I know some don't like looking through stuff but I try and look through the middle of the rod which is centered on the marker track. I find the extra height useful when coming up to an end or right after turning as there is that little bit of area where you don't have the marker track available. Half the battle of keeping things straight in my opinion is making a square turn relative to the end rows. Whether you are lifting up pulling out or setting it back down going back in it's important to keep it square. Having to compensate for the hooking at the ends is hard to correct.

When everything is lined up you should not hardly be able to see the marker track as the rod covers it all up. It is nice though if you get off to have a vertical guide to go by to know whether you need to fudge in or out to make the next pass straight. The rod allows you to compare a greater distance of the marker track to see where any squiggle may be instead of having nothing to compare to and trying to pick out the point with no guide.
