Subject: Grain Dust Oiler

Sandy Point, Texas, just south of Houston
There was a discussion about grain dust and how to get it out of bin while unloading. Here is what we use...dust oil. It is white mineral oil. We have it delivered to our bulk tank at the grain dyers by a local jobber. We then meter it on with the pump shown to the pit auger by 3/8 reinforced plastic tubing. We welded a coupling on the lower connect plate on the auger cover. We use a regular 8002 flat fan tip to spray oil on the grain as it moves in the auger. Pump and motor were bought at Grainger and other parts at TSC. We oil rice corn soybeans and it works great for the dust. If you want less dust just apply more oil. We usually run about 40 psi on the tip and it figures about 3 cents per bu on corn 5 cents a bu for beans and about 10 cents a cwt for rice
