Nw Iowa
Are you selling cash the bushels that you're guaranteed through insurance then buying puts on the uninsured bushels? Something that needs to be taken into consideration THIS year is that if you can't store all your bushels and are forced to deliver corn to town this fall.......With all the corn expansion this year and if we have record yields and a wet fall ALOT of elevators will be full and they don't have to pile millions of bushels on the ground. It's their choice to gamble with that corn and alot of them got burned a couple years ago with wet corn spoiling in the pile. If the corn isn't sold they don't have to take it..... Just a thought....and a warning....I know for a fact that I don't want my own corn piles on the ground this fall. Sometimes cash sales are good!
