Remember Eugene Smith. He was featured in a lot of magizine as a great role model of the time.His onetime wealth was created by land ownership not by farming or great yields. 1970 to 1981 from nearly zero net worth to 12 million. No income tax on that either. It makes it difficult to get wealthy when you have to share up to 60% with various gov entities in the form of taxes.
