rick, gotta a couple questions, what controls grid heater, couple part #s 82039668 and 82039669, seems to me engine needs to sense ambienent or engine temp, just asking qurious, scott.


The two part numbers you posted are electrical terminals or connectors of some sort. They retail for under $2 each. On the TS115A tractor in the previous thread, the grid heater is activated by a relay triggered by the (p/n) 47132002 control unit. The control unit recieves a resisted electrical signal from the coolant sensor p/n 2852087 located on the left side of the cylinder head. This same sensor provides feedback to the injection pump's cold start advance unit. A different coolant sender provides a signal to the instrument panel in the cab.

The resistor I recommended adding to the grid heater circuit will make the grid heater controller think it is sensing colder coolant than it actually is without altering the function of the injection pump's cold start advance device.
