Subject: Farm goal setting?

Croswell, Michigan
How do you go about setting long term goals for your business?

My situation is this, just turned 40, no kids yet, modest size farm and I own majority of the land I farm, been with two landloards 20+ years. As is everywhere else land it tight. I am happy with the workload that I have but am concerned with the increased cost of living each year. If I do have children I still have a fair bit of time to figure out how to work them in (15 years???), if not I am only building for increased income or the challenge of doing so.

I am going to try to set up a meeting with some local extension people to help answer these questions but I thought I would ask what you guys think.
