Lapel, In | Good old baler of about 1960s or so age. Does your tractor even have a 540 PTO speed ? If you could find an older (good) mechanic to go through it before haying season, it would probably do you a nice job. Things like adjusting the plunger clearances, sharpening the knife, checking out the needle travel as they engage the knotters, sharpening the twine knives, checking the hay dogs for wear, checking the plunger stop operation, replacing any missing or broken pickup teeth,etc.. That baler is designed to run 60 strokes per minute and fed at 11 to 13 charges per bale and will perform best at that speed and rate of feed. A consistently well formed windrow will also go a long ways in allowing the baler to give optimum service. Its not always the baler's fault when things go wrong. | |
