Subject: RE: Burnt equipment

south texas
I bought a 4430 that had a cab fire. It got hot enough to partially burn top of rear tires before it ran out of oxygen in barn. Worst mistake I ever made. Being a deere mechanic, never realized how many orings, lines, fittings ect would be affected. Probaby went thru 100 gallons of hydrulic oil the first 50 or so hours due to blown lines orings ect. I still have the beast 17 years later. I only paid $1000.00 for it. Ended up replacing cab and getting it pretty neice. Problem is I have around 20,000 in it now. That is purely parts, tires, cab ect. Would have been dollars ahead to haul it to salvage yard. But it is still big impovement over the ford 9600. Thats a story for another day!
