Hey Martin. Where are you from? Sounds like you may be french. Europe or Quebec?

We've been ridge tilling for about 20 years now. Main reason is to get the crop out of the water. But for most people it is used for irrigation purposes. Depending on soil type and traffic, compaction can become a problem between the rows. We try to break down the ridges as often as possible. Every fall if we can, but some fields only get done every 2 or 3 years.

The big expense is the equipment, but that can be regained by reduced chemical use and reduced tillage.
