| Doing plot work we had a joke. The number one hybrid never wins the next year. As a farmer we looked hardest at the top 1/3 of the plot and considered the hybrid history. Also how it performed in other plots in the area. It was also nice if you had plot data from areas that had different growing conditions. Plots in dryer or areas of poor growing conditions give you an idea of how much risk you might be taking with a new hybrid. Lsd,s are a nice indication but 10 bushels more is 10 more bushels in the bin. | |
