| Let's also keep in mind how all this got started. Originally, RR "tech fees" were around $6 a bag on beans at a time when a post soybean program could cost $50 an acre. As they captured more market share, and more companies, they have continually ramped up the tech fees, to the point where the tech fees are now, what, $30 plus a unit? Same deal on corn. It seems like originally RR corn and/or BT was around $15 a bag higher Than conventional varieties. They couldn't push the trait prices until they had "captured" a significant enough market share. However, they have gotten to the point where there is now resistance to the "latest and greatest" obviously, and have created a situation to make it attractive to grow non-gmo again. However, it is my understanding that Monsanto just bought out Asoyia, so, apparently, they are going after that market too. | |
