gypsum will more good than any tillage on heavy soil. rule of thumb I have found from experience is... if the MG base saturation is not over 35% gypsum won't help... I'm not sure about your product we ussually run 1000 - 3000 lb / acre 200-400 cal sol in heavy tight black soil gyp is great my .02
