John, interesting question.  I have been thinking along the same lines except I was thinking of a 3 pt toolbar and I was looking for drying moreso than warming.  I had cornstalks this spring that never did dry out, after a while I just planted into them.  I think if I could have just cleared the residue down the row middles it would have helped a lot.  After this past year it's hard to remember that most years are not this wet!
