Subject: RE: Rye for seed

Dalton, OH
I'm also raising for my own seed here.  My neighbor, a dairyman, used to raise it for his own seed and he tells me 80 bu/ac is pretty easy up here.  He claims 100 bu/ac is pretty normal with good fertility.  I guess I'll find out next summer!!  Not too worried if it goes flat.  I'll just creep through it with the combine.  I plan on baling the straw, so if I have to cut it close to the ground its not really a big deal.
