Subject: Fuel usage 8010 and 9870

NE Saskatchewan
We have a 9870 and 8010 - both model year 2008. All through harvest we have found the green machine to be alot more fuel efficient than the red. The average fuel usage across all acres was 1.4 gal/ac for the JD vs 2.7 gal/ac for the 8010 ---- this was from the PRO600 and the 2600. Both set to US gal/ac.
Not only does the computer show this, each morning when we filled up, we would notice the pump would click out alot sooner for the JD as well - so not just the computer saying so. Never did an actual measure though.

Not only did it use less fuel, it would also do more acres/hr and acres in a day than the red.

Has anyone had similar experience, or is this an anomoly? Sounds too extreme of a difference --- on our acres this would mean almost $58,000 difference for fuel @ harvest if we were all red vs green at todays diesel price. WOW.
