Regina/ 14 miles South of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan | Not sure if it would be the same between the 3406, and our ST 270 with a 3306 - but we had a bad exhaust gasket & warped exhaust manifold that caused the exact symptoms you describe - on the 3306's bad manifolds after time are a pretty common occurance - was glad ours hadn't been run too long with the band gasket - it does groove the head ports pretty quickly if that's what's wrong...
