Panhandle of Ne. | We had an orthman double angled stalk chopper and never really liked it. Have since started using JD flail shredders and much prefer the job they do as they will cut the stalks into a much more manageable size. We are full till because of the sugar beets and still list. Behind the chopper, that was a problem, but with the flail shredders, not bad. Downside, is that you can't cover as much ground with the shredders. Downside of the chopper, 12 row 30, was that it shook the tractor real bad and was hard on the 3 pt. The choppers are made to run fast, but were hard to keep on the row. This was before autosteer, so might not be so bad now, but could always tell where the driver got off the row. You can get a 3 pt. flail shredder also.
