Denison, Iowa | I have a 1987 1660 that is in very good shape( specialty rotor, cross flow fan, HID lights, and very well manitained) plus its paid for, but I only run a 15 ft bean head. I run about 300-350 acres of beans a year 1/2 bottom ground and some very steep hills. I want to upgrade my 1020 15ft head to a 20 footer but haven't because I don't have a field tracker. How much would I have to spend to get one on there, and has anyone added one to an older machine? I probably will run this combine another 4-5 years as it is in excellent shape. I fix everything at the dealers each fall. Repairs are only costing me about 2-3k per season right now and I run 800 acres of corn and beans per season. Would it be smart to have dealer install a FT so I can upgrade my head which I really need to do anyway or just keep pounding away. Right now I'm thinking time is money so I paying either way. Thanks for your opinions. Beans are finally dry and going good here. I combined 7 hours today and did 45 acres.
