how do you break apart a quote from a post and insert your response to there quote.

You mean like this?
When I do it my sentences look like the original posters quote?
I'll have to post a screen shot to make it easier to understand.  It's basic html, which means it is a computer thing. It does exactly what you tell it whether you want it to or not.  Putting QUOTE (or quote) inside brackets will cause it to handle the text following as a quote.  It continues to do that until you put in QUOTE (or quote) inside brackets with a backslash / in front of quote to tell it to stop doing that. 

Here is the screen shot of the paragraph I just wrote.  Hope it helps.
