we still run our 863 occasionally and yes...the rolls are suppose to move forward and backward but only about an 1/8" at most. less movement and the bushing will get hot, more movement and you just shorten the life of the coupler on the back of the roll. The previous poster mentioned hardened washers, you use those to "shim" the roll to less than 1/8", If your spirals are getting sloppy you might be better off to replace them along with new bushings.

And grease them ALOT!!!
