Mid-Missouri | If you allow the front drum to float high, and the front faceplate is tilted back a good amount, when the drum floats up high, the feederslats can bang against metal above them at times. Did it for me in good corn. Since then I lowered the upper limit slightly via the square rock guard adjustment. The feederhouse chain is tightened by the numerous springs on the right side going through the pulley beside the right cab ladder. I don't think you tighten them all though. I want to say you skip maybe six of them around that pulley. The book says it all, and how compressed the springs should be. If the feeder clutch does slip, it won't be making a ratchet noise. It is exremely quite. The feeder chain should be tightened to were you can get your hand half way between the feeder floor and slat in the middle of the feederhouse. Very concise! Goodluck | |
