Little River, TX | There is at least one exception. With some heavy clay soils with a corresponding high CEC value the positive ammonia is attracted to the negative clay and becomes a part of the cation collection.
Add to this the fact that clay is not very porous and water does not readily percolate down through the soil, carrying the anions (Nitrates) with it.
Add to this the possibility of a high swell clay type and there is an additional place for any and all essential elements to be captured by the soil.
Took me 50 years to learn that much. Since then I have learned things are not as simple as they first appear. | |
