| We have a 10,000 bushel bin that we transfer hot milo/corn into from the drying bin, then we cool it and truck it out during harvest then leave the last of the milo in it till spring. It has a perforated Y shaped duct in the cement floor with a fan at ground level. The fan sucks air out of the bin, I got to thinking since we are always adding hot grain to the top, wouldn't it be better to have the fan blowing into the bin instead of always drawing all that hot air down through the grain and out the ductwork. It seems to me that it would cool the grain more quickly and easily since heat naturally rises. Sometimes the grain is still a little wet coming out of the dryer so I think I would rather push that moisture and heat out the top instead of down through the entire bin. What do you all think?
It's been this way for probably 20 years and I never thought much about it till tonight
