I could put 25% corn in narrow wooden cribs, then, as it dried to around 20-22% I would start to fill the large round wire cribs. I would say I lost more to rats than spoilage.

we used to roll the ear in our hands...kind of like giving someone and Indian burn on the wrist to check moisture. If it seemed close we would shell some and take it to the elevator for a moisture check.

I cribbed corn until 1972....I wouldn't want tot go back, the sheer volume you have to haul out of the field would be prohibitive.
