Thanks for the input guys. As we all suspected this drill has some miles on it and some wear to go along with it. The discs are worn down to 16.25" and I swear that all the closing wheels were set differently. So 1st order of business this morn after looking at the owners manual on the JD website was to set the drill so everything was the same. That made a huge difference as one would suspect. I am pretty happy with the way things look now.
I agree that using a drill that has some miles on it is not the the proper way to see if I will be happy with the results but it is my only option to try no till. If it does work and I like the results well enough to go that route I would definately buy a new drill.
