western iowa | In the land of huge co-ops they try to run 7 to 7. But if theres only a couple guys hauling in like on a wet day they'll try to shut down because of a lack of volume. The head office is always micromanaging the locations. Dad says back in the good old days they'd keep two guys there and run 24 hours. No body pushed too hard or ran such crazy hours because there wasn't any hurry to beat the elevator closing. Things just flowed nicely. Not these days I guess. I believe grain storage to be almost right up there with tile in our part of the world for stuff that'll pay for itself. | |
