USA
What I have been told about making a Generic Liberty ( Ignite) is, there isn't enough demand for Ignite to justify a generic. Don't know how true this is, but this is the answer that have been given. With the increased acres of Liberty beans, demand for Ignite will be on the increase, so maybe ideas will change in the future.

As far as the Bayer people's comments about selling Ignite at near cost of production, is nothing more than pure unadulterated horse manure.

Fact is there is $6 per gal available to growers and dealers in growing strong money for Ignite, and probably 20 to 30% in distribution and corporate fat cost, that could be eliminated if a generic Ignite was brought to market. Would put the price of a generic Ignite in the $35 - $40 per gal area.

Bayer is getting more $ per acre from the tech fee on LL beans than what the cost of Ignite is per acre. So Bayer has some wiggle room if it so desires to lower Ignite price and still generate way more income than was possible from what they made from soybean chemical sales in the past.
