Subject: Smell

South Texas
Dear MSB,

Neighbor has similar sulphur problem. Cure was to install a 1000 gal holding tank with separate pressure system. Submersible pump discharge is routed to a piece of pvc (I think 1") mounted horizontally just above the tank's water surface. Water entering from the submersible is just squirted out from holes drilled in the pvc and is sprayed around in side the tank. That sort of aerates the water and the rest of the sulphur just disappears from setting in the well vented tank. Water for the pressure system is drawn from the bottom of this tank. Submersible is run on-off from a water level switch. I think he keeps it at around 800 gallons in the holding tank. Probably pumps in 100 gal at a time or so.

Hope this helps. I'm really ignorant on gas well requirements. Sorry. We did have an oil well lease when we bought this property and our land was combined with the neighbor's to get "enough" acreage to allow the drilling, but I don't know what the total requirement was. Maybe 40 acres or so.

Take care. Stetts
