Subject: RE: podceal canola and wind *$^#%

Rivers, MB
Tried poceal last year. Pods didn't shatter but whole pods broke off the stem. Didn't find any yield advantage either. This year (didn't try podceal), we found a slight yield advantage. I can see that a shorter stature canola like the RR would blow easier, especially with shorter stubble. I think we would need a monster wind to blow our 36' Invigor swaths. Most of them were just under 10' wide and mid thigh in height with knee high stubble. Seems that the 36' swaths dry down a little slower but I think we will withstand strong winds better. We will see.....
