Subject: RE: White Mold In only one field of soybeans.......

EC MN - Hour North of 'The Cities'
I spoke with a University of Wisconsin soybean researcher the other day on the topic of white mold. The UW is doing trials of various fungicides and timing on preventing white mold, and the only consistent practice year-in and year-out has been Cobra or any other herbicide that kicks the snot out of the bean. They are seeing a decent response with Contans, but this is not instant or cheap.

Target areas of the field where you will have your best beans (usually more moisture/fertility) and apply various practices (wider row spacing, reduced population, bean variety with a decent white mold score, different herbicide program? Contans?) and see what works in your area.

White mold needs perfect timing of flowering, canopy closure, and spore release with enough moisture and cooler temperatures to happen in a narrow window of time.
